We have got acquainted through our PhD roommate to a character we all have named ‘Loudspeaker’. I’ve never seen or met someone like him before, in my life. From what my roomie describes, he is loud(once he came to collect his bike that he had left at our place early in the morning… we all lost sleep due to the din), he is so full of himself and completely condescending in every which way possible! He says his parents are ‘peculiar people! and has numerous conditions to be satisfied for his wife-to-be which I don’t think any human can fulfill. If you go to him with a problem, you are sure to forget about it, because he creates other new ones for you!

Me and PhD guy were getting ready for a formal event. PhD guy doesn’t wants to wear his formals that have shrunk, but has to. So he squeezes himself into his shabby trousers and is hardly able to breathe. We are almost just half an hour away from when the event ends and so we are unforgivably late already. Midway he realizes that his ‘fly’ is open. But the zipper has gone crazy so it doesn’t close.He decides he’ll manage the situation by using his file as a ’shield’.

Tragedy strikes when we come face to face with ‘loudspeaker’ soon. He says he’s not attending the event and that it is useless. Then he sees the trousers and says ” Are you going with that on?”  PhD roomie gives a ‘deer in the headlights’ expression and is petrified that his secret zipper has been opened wide. And he looks down, to see the file. He had been talking about his shabby trousers.

We both head back home and decide to change into jeans and make whatever possible out of the event. 15 minutes later roomie emerges out of the restroom. Never try to wear something that doesn’t fit you especially if it is smaller. Pressure!
