My apologies to regular reader(s). It is exam season and the first tier is just over so I am back here!
Once upon a time, I had started this “idea” of writing a book. This was about 3 -4 years ago. The book, rather, the idea was to write a “thriller”, a story that involves suspense, thrill, a mystery with a dash of romance and relationships thrown in.
I had written the first scene of the book formally. The detective arrives at the beach guesthouse where the crime has taken place. He steps out of the car, and gets introduced to the businessman who has requested of his services to get to the bottom of the crime. They shake hands, and crack!. The window overhead breaks. Glass splinters down along with the heavy copper vase that falls thud on the beach sand, just as the detective steps away in time.
With that introduction ready I had in mind a vague idea of the series of events that would lead the detective to the culprit. Well that was what I was thinking, when along came two movies in summer that year. Both movies were made in tamil with a basic point “copied” from my story!! I had planned to make the story revolve around a psychotic illness, which would form the basis for the crime. Sadly, both movies were made on a similar theme, Multiple Personality Disorder. And so I stopped the book right there.
Today I take this opportunity to honour that dead book which could net get finished! Anyways for the curious, here is the ending. The culprit was none other than the detective who had come to investigate. And this is discovered by the detective himself as all clues lead him to himself. That is when he finally finds out that he has an illness! Well a bad ending to a blockbuster book (can say that because it never got released!)
My second book is in the infant stage in my mind as of now. This time it is no thriller / mystery. It is based on relationships and emotions, yes and a bit of mystery thrown in. I have decided to write down the book in 2020, around ten years later. This was a small promotional campaign for the book (already?! you may ask! Tomorrow you should not say I never warned you, that is why!)
As you have promised i will be first person to read your first draft and ya obviously reviewer/editor of your book !!!
FYI — If am unhappy with content i might be forced to play the detective role
